SCAMPER Your Way to Success

Thoughts On Success — ”SCAMPER” Your Way To Improving Ideas

SCAMPER Your Way to Success | Thoughts on SuccessI found the tool below in the March 2012 edition of Success Magazine. It’s one of those little thoughts on success that really packs a punch. In fact, if you are currently working on a project, this tool can significantly improve and enhance your ideas.

(NOTE: Here’s one of the best thoughts on success I can share with you…if you do not not currently subscribe to Success Magazine, drop what you’re doing at this very instance and subscribe. It’s that good!)

If you’re trying to improve an idea…use the acronym SCAMPER, a creative thinking tool developed by Robert Eberle

— What can you Substitute?

— What can you Combine or Change?

— How can this idea Adapt to the circumstances at hand?

— How can this idea be Modified? What parts should you Minimize or Magnify?

— How can you Put this idea to other uses?

— What can you Eliminate?

— What if you Reverse the idea?

I recently used this tool to enhance one of my keynote presentations. It helped me improve one illustration and completely change another.

Again, this is one of those thoughts on success that is simple, but powerful. So, why not give it a try on your next project or task. Within a matter of moments, you’ll likely see a way to enhance your ideas.

Great post Kent. I use the SCAMPER method with clients who are trying to generate different ways of looking at a problem that is standing in the way of them achieving their goals. Looking from different perspectives often hrings the difficulty down to size or helps them to see a way around the blockage and open up a whole new landscape of possibilities.
