Put The Big Rocks in First!

Here’s a classic video from best-selling author, leadership guru, and personal development expert Stephen Covey.  This clip fits well with many of the concepts I’ll be teaching in the Live It Forward Goal-GETTING Tele-seminar on December 6.

Here are two of my favorite books by Stephen Covey:

    Kent,

I know these principles and even taught the Big Rocks-Little Rocks system to a group of teens many years ago, but I have never seen that video.  It was hilarious.  Thanks for sharing.

      Marianne,

I actually did this live myself a couple of times with students…but Stephen Covey is the master at demonstrating this concept!

      Thanks for the comment,

Kent, this is a great visual.  We did this as part of a strategic planning session at my old company (watched the same video even) 6 years ago.  Too bad the owners veered from the Big Rocks only 3 months later!  =(  However, I incorporated the concept into my own life about a year ago, with my two Big Rocks each day being [1] Bible/devotion time, and [2] exercise.  If I get those two in, 8-9 times out of 10 it will be a good day.  Thanks for sharing.  Make it a great day!

Thanks for sharing! It is easy to daily get bogged down with all the small things on my to do list and not have time for everything.

I love how Stephen Covey calls that getting caught up in the “thick of thin things.” Classic word picture!
